Read the Testimonies of the Three and Eight Witnesses.
- The Three Witnesses hears and saw some things that the Eight Witnesses did not. What are they? Notice that Joseph Smith's father and two of his brothers were among the Eight Witnesses. Watch "For Our Day" on the Book of Mormon video.
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
The three witnesses saw the angel who brought them the plates to see. The 8 witnesses had the plates show to them by Joseph Smith. Three witnesses: the voice of the Lord commanded them to bear record of it. The three witnesses only saw the plates, the 8 witnesses touched and held them.
